Providing personalised, evidence-based orthopaedic care for hip and knee conditions, including arthritis management, joint replacement surgery, and sports knee injuries.
Dr Mark Inglis is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in treatment of hip and knee conditions including arthritis, joint replacements, meniscal tears, sports injuries and revisions. Dr Inglis has extensive experience in modern techniques including direct anterior (minimally invasive) approach hip replacement and robotic assisted knee replacement.
After completing orthopaedic surgery training in South Australia he undertook additional training in anterior hip replacement and robotic knee replacement both nationally and internationally.
He is the former Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Repatriation General Hospital and former Director of Arthroplasty Services for SALHN. In addition to clinical practice he is a senior lecturer with Flinders University with research into the learning curve of the anterior approach to hip surgery and of improving patient outcomes post total joint replacement. He has also trained many orthopaedic surgeons both nationally and internationally who have come to Adelaide to further advance their skills under his tutelage.
Dr Mark Inglis | Hip & Knee Orthopaedic Surgeon
Direct Anterior Hip Replacement
A surgical approach to total hip replacement performed from the front of the hip. This technique works between muscles rather than detaching them and may support early mobilisation and rehabilitation following surgery.
Robotic Knee Replacement
Knee replacement surgery performed with the assistance of robotic technology to support detailed planning and accurate implant positioning tailored to each patient’s anatomy.
Revision Hip Replacement Surgery
Surgery considered when a previous hip replacement is no longer functioning as expected, with the aim of addressing pain, instability, or implant-related concerns.
Revision Knee Replacement Surgery
Surgery to replace or address components of a previous knee replacement when there is persistent pain, implant wear, loosening, or instability affecting joint function.
ACL reconstruction
Surgical procedures performed to address ligament injuries and structural damage within the knee, including ACL and complex instability, following careful clinical assessment and planning.
Arthroscopic knee surgery
Surgical management of sports-related knee injuries, including ligament tears, cartilage damage and meniscal injury, following comprehensive clinical assessment and imaging.

Comprehensive surgical care for hip and knee conditions, including joint replacement and adult management. Treatment is guided by careful assessment, detailed planning, and contemporary surgical techniques tailored to each patient’s clinical needs.
Dr Inglis performs total hip replacement surgery using the direct anterior approach as well as other contemporary surgical techniques, selecting the approach that is most appropriate based on each patient’s anatomy, condition, and functional goals. He utilises detailed pre-operative planning and modern surgical technologies to support accurate implant positioning and joint alignment.
Where suitable, Dr Inglis utilises the anterior muscle-sparing approach in the majority of hip replacement patients, which are designed to support early movement and rehabilitation following surgery. His overall focus is on improving joint function, supporting mobility, and assisting patients to return to daily activities safely.
Dr Inglis performs robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery as part of his approach to managing knee arthritis and joint degeneration. Robotic technology supports detailed pre-operative planning and intra-operative guidance, assisting with precise bone preparation and implant positioning tailored to each patient’s anatomy.
The overall aim is to support stable joint function, natural movement, and safe recovery following knee replacement surgery.
Patient Care extends beyond surgery and includes coordinated rehabilitation, follow-up, and ongoing management where required.
Specialist hip procedures focused on relieving pain, restoring movement, and helping patients return to daily activities with confidence. Treatment is tailored to each patient using contemporary techniques and careful planning to support safe recovery and long-term joint function.
Assessment and management of hip conditions focused on accurate diagnosis, personalised treatment plans, and evidence-based care to relieve pain, improve movement, and support long-term joint health.
